ASA's Catamaran Challenge 1.02

Many sailors are attracted to catamarans for their exciting sailing speeds, spacious decks and living quarters, and stable ride. One aspect that may not be immediately obvious until you’re on board and actually operating a catamaran is its remarkable maneuverability under power at low speeds. Equipped with two engines and two propellers spread far apart, a catamaran can rotate 360 degrees within its own length in either direction, without needing to steer. Operating a twin-engine catamaran under power is quite different from operating a single-engine monohull, and this app is designed to teach you the nuances and allow you to practice these new skills.

The app features five comprehensive learning modules that cover the essentials of operating a twin-engine catamaran: understanding the basics, performing standing turns, executing looping turns, and maneuvering the boat at slow speeds using only the throttles. In addition, the app offers several challenge modules that test your newly acquired skills. You can practice tasks such as picking up a mooring buoy or docking the catamaran in a marina.
